As you can see, I put this post in the "My peeps" category.  It's not REALLY about one of my peeps.  I mean, the guy has absolutely no clue who I am, but I FEEL like I know him. I "follow" him.  Not in a "crazy stalker" kind of way, but in a "Man, I love what this guy has to say!" kind of way.  You see, I like to blog.  I like to read blogs too.  It's like having new friends who are pouring knowledge, truth, humor, and unexpectedness into my life. One of the blogs that has been continually challenging me as a leader is "What Leadership Demands" @ www.shaneduffey.com. 

Shane is the Creative Arts Pastor at New Spring Church in Anderson, SC.  His take on Leadership is real, challenging, and inspiring.  I think you should read his blog too.  It's sweet. Let me know what you think.

Ain't she purty?

Since my friend Sunny posted a picture of her "dream guitar," I thought I'd post mine too.  I will be saving for a long, long, time to get this Taylor 814ce, but as you can see, it's gonna be so worth it!  Until then, I will just keep visiting it at the guitar store.  They're gonna be so sick of me!!!

Hitched at Last!!

On May 11th at 6:40pm my good friends Miss Jeanne Hyde and Mr. Mark Hounsell officailly tied the knot.  Yay!!  It was a beautiful ceremony.  She looked absolutely gorgeous (see pic at left) and the Saintey's backyard made for a stunning ceremony location.  I got to be Jeanne's wedding coordinator, and it was a total blast!  A lot more work than I had anticipated, and a great learning experience, but still a completely awesome time.  I still haven't come down from the rush and I am running on about 3 hours sleep, but I would do it again (for Jeanne) in a heartbeat!  I'm pretty proud of myself for being able to coordinate the whole shindig while trying to SMILE, have as much fun as possible, be there for Jeanne as a friend, not mess up Jeff's or Sunny's song, (I sang back-up) socialize with my other great friends who were there, troubleshoot, and not miss any of the poignant moments.  There would have been NO way that I would have been able to pull all of that off without a few of my fellow CVCers who went ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty.  It was so amazing to see people who saw things that needed to be done and knew that there was no way I could do them all, so they just stepped in and worked their little tails off.  Bob and Laura Saintey, you guys rock!!  The yard was gorgeous!  Parking was flawless and Laura, your decorating skills were so greatly appreciated!  Lu Olsen, You saved my you know what.  You were seriously my "right hand gal"! (And I thought I could get by without one..)  My sister April and my mom spent many hours on the flowers and did a fantastic job.  Everyone else who pitched in to set up and/or tear down until after midnight (Rod, Cindy, Kathy, Steve, Paul, Sunny, Roy, Becki, Anita, Evan......)did a great job.  And finally, two gentlemen who I would want on my team any day of the week.. Henry Conover and Dave Swearingen.  These guys are big time "doers".  There are people who see a need and pass over it, or tell someone else to remedy it, and then there are dudes like these two.  They just DO!!  My good friend Henry, who also officiated the ceremony beautifully, had a hand in the food service, clean up, tear down, organization in general, and I was SOO impressed with how efficient he was. (food preparers..you guys were also nothing short of outstanding!!). What can I say about Dave?  Is there anything this guy can't do?  An amazing musician AND singer, he tranfomed the auditorium into a sparkly wonderland (with Evan's help of course) while leading band rehearsal, folding napkins into roses (I wish I had a pic to post, they were beautiful!!) and.. he dances! Pretty darn good too!  He, Evan, and Henry were still at the church when Anita, Becki, and I left at about 12:10am!! Anyway, my point is that with such amazing people around her, Jeanne was bound to have a specatacular wedding.  What a great team we all made!

Bag Not Included...

I had the priviledge of going wedding dress shopping with my friend Jeanne today who is getting married in May. I was floored by the selection of dresses out these days.  I was married in the early 90's when everything was lacy and poofy and had lots of bows and embellishments.  I'll tell you what, there are some beautiful dresses out there, all so classy and elegant, and Jeanne found one today!!  I'm sworn to secrecy on the details, but it's absolutely gorgeous.  I almost started crying when she put the matching veil on..I can't wait for her fiance to see her in it!!  One thing we thought was a little annoying; After she forks over hundreds of dollars for the dress, sash, veil, and the fancy undergarments..they have the nerve to charge her for a BAG to keep the dress in!!  That's just wrong.
